Jorge Lezcano, a leader of Identidad Peronista and UPCN, entered La Pampa Peronism's internal debate with a warning: running outside the PJ when personal ambitions are not satisfied could end up benefiting the opposition.

He said internal disputes and primaries are part of party life but distinguished them from an electoral rupture. His own group, he recalled, has lost internal contests without taking the dispute outside the organization.

Lezcano specifically challenged the logic of “if it is not me, I will run elsewhere.” In his view, such ultimatums place individual ambitions above the provincial project and could threaten the ruling party's continuity.

The debate is unfolding as Peronism begins to look toward 2027 and prepares activities for October 17. Lezcano said Loyalty Day should be used to reaffirm political belonging and discuss ideas rather than intensify an early fight over names.

He also called for a change in priorities. Jobs, wages, production, housing, public services and opportunities for young people, he argued, should receive more attention than the question of who will head a future electoral ticket.

At the same time, Lezcano acknowledged that the provincial ruling party must review its mistakes and understand why it has lost support. Economic hardship, he said, weighs on families and cannot be offset simply by citing existing provincial policies.

He urged Peronism to return to local communities, listen to demands and explain how it plans to sustain development. The opposition, he added, will have to answer for the national government while La Pampa's administration must show results and correct shortcomings.

His message seeks to set a political boundary before candidacies are formalized: internal competition is legitimate, but a split that makes an opposition victory easier is, in his view, the line La Pampa Peronism should not cross.
