El Periquete is an independent news and analysis platform committed to understanding Argentina through a plurality of territorial perspectives.
We believe the country cannot be adequately explained from a single city, political tradition or cultural viewpoint. National events take on different meanings depending on the province, region and community in which they are experienced. Our editorial approach is therefore federal and multicentric: we seek to examine Argentina’s current affairs not only from the main centers of power, but also from each of the territories directly affected by the country’s decisions and transformations.
Our purpose is to connect the national with the provincial and the local. We cover politics, economics, society, production, infrastructure, the environment, culture and security while respecting the historical experiences, political languages and priorities of every jurisdiction. Provincial perspectives are not treated as secondary reactions to an agenda defined elsewhere. They are essential sources of knowledge for understanding how Argentina works.
A diversity of voices
El Periquete provides space for different voices, traditions and interpretations. We believe meaningful coverage of Argentina requires intellectual openness and serious consideration of perspectives that may diverge from one another.
Our pages may therefore include reporting, analysis, commentary and contributions expressing contrasting views. Publishing a perspective does not imply endorsing it. It reflects our conviction that readers are better served when they have access to well-founded arguments, relevant facts and a broad range of informed interpretations.
We reject the idea that plurality requires abandoning rigor. Diversity of opinion must be accompanied by accuracy, context, responsible language and a clear distinction between facts, analysis and commentary.
