Mauricio Macri began a tour of the United States, Spain, and Italy amid a relationship marked by contradictory signals. Formal contact continues, and neither side declared the negotiation broken, but the photographs have not yet translated into rules, candidacies, or commitments regarding the districts governed by Macrism.
The device brings together, on the part of the ruling party, Diego Santilli, Eduardo Lule Menem and Martín Menem; on the part of PRO, Cristian Ritondo and Fernando de Andreis participate. The table was presented as a way to explore an understanding, although its members admitted that they did not work on the jurisdictions administered by the yellow party. That absence particularly affects the City of Buenos Aires, where Jorge Macri seeks to preserve local government and the libertarian advance threatens the historical position of PRO.
Tension rose when Karina Milei participated with Santilli in a tour of Buenos Aires just one day after the second bilateral meeting. For Macrism, that sequence showed that LLA maintains its competitive presence while staging cooperation. At the same time, libertarian leaders like Pilar Ramírez intensified their criticisms of Jorge Macri's administration. The actions do not amount to a rupture, but they weaken the trust necessary to negotiate joint lists or a shared formula.
Mauricio Macri maintains a skeptical position. Before traveling, he conveyed to his circle that previous calls from the government did not result in fulfilled commitments. His minimum objective would be to safeguard the continuity of PRO in the City, although Karina Milei did not offer public guarantees. The former president's tour involves international and family commitments; attributing it exclusively to the political conflict would be excessive. His departure from the country serves as a context for the negotiation, not as proof of a definitive abandonment of the table.
Within PRO a competitive alternative also grew. Hernán Lacunza brought together Martín Goerling Lara, Humberto Schiavoni, Jorge Triaca, and Paula Bertol, and reaffirmed their willingness to contest the Presidency. The former minister suggested that the party should run separately from LLA to offer another electoral option. That stance was not adopted as an organic decision of the entire group, but it shows that the alliance strategy does not have internal consensus and that there are leaders willing to maintain their own identity.
Parliamentary cooperation adds another layer. Ritondo highlighted laws voted on together with the Government, a sign that PRO continues to support a good part of the official program. That behavior does not resolve electoral competition: parties can agree in Congress and compete for positions in 2027. Nor does a candidacy promoted at a dinner equate to a formal nomination, which will depend on internal mechanisms, alliances, and the electoral system that ultimately remains in place.
The next indicator will be the content of the meetings and not merely their occurrence. To speak of an agreement, definitions must appear regarding the City, the provinces governed by PRO, the national lists, and a procedure to resolve candidacies. It will also matter to know whether any understanding will be national or will allow different solutions by district, because that distinction affects the position of mayors, governors, and legislators. If the table continues without an agenda, it will function mainly as a channel to prevent a premature breakup. The absence of deadlines favors each sector keeping options open and gauging its strength before the closing of lists, but it increases the cost of relying on promises without guarantees. The current news is an open negotiation under mutual distrust and without resolution: LLA expands its Buenos Aires structure, PRO preserves legislative cooperation, and Macrist sectors are preparing a competition that has not yet been officially announced.
