National representative Julieta Campo placed Chaco within the discussion for the reform of the land law that the Senate will discuss on Thursday. The legislator maintained that the project called Inviolability of Private Property affects the country's ability to decide on its territory and its resources. His intervention linked the national debate with the structure of rural property in the province and with the situation of its border departments.
Campo recalled that Law 26,737 was passed in 2011 after the international financial crisis of 2008. He presented this norm as a response to the advance of large financial groups on spaces considered strategic. Among its provisions, the 15% limit for foreign ownership and restrictions on border areas, riverbanks, lakes and aquifers stood out.
The Chaco dimension appeared in the figures he presented during the interview. The deputy estimated that around 300,000 rural hectares in the province are in foreign hands and that around 60% of that area is concentrated in the Güemes and Maipú departments. Based on these data, he pointed out the Impenetrable as a territory where communities, biodiversity, native forests and freshwater reserves coexist.
Campo differentiated immigration linked to rural work from purchases by large international economic groups. According to their argument, the project does not target the individual foreign producer who settles and exploits the land, but rather facilitates operations in areas associated with water, minerals and hydrocarbons. The statement is part of its political rejection and not of a technical evaluation already resolved by Congress.
The legislator extended her questions to the reform of the Organic Charter of the Central Bank, which will begin to be discussed in committee. He stated that La Libertad Avanza obtains support from governors and leaders from different areas despite not having enough seats of its own. He also mentioned Governor Leandro Zdero among those who, in his opinion, facilitate votes for national initiatives that he considers harmful.
In closing, Campo moved the discussion to the electoral horizon of 2027, but asked that Peronism first define a government program. He listed as pending issues the debt with the International Monetary Fund, informal employment, social plans and the management of natural resources. The immediate instance will be Thursday's session: there it will be measured whether the territorial objections affect the wording or the result of the vote.
