Governor Ignacio Torres toured Trelew's former Procrear housing complex and set October 30 for the delivery of 68 homes to Chubut police families. The date turns the revival of a stalled project into a measurable commitment.
The full development comprises 204 units in three groups of 68 and more than 17,000 square metres. It stands in the Etchepare neighbourhood, within an intervention that also includes Block 76.
The national government had stopped the work during the wider public-works freeze. Chubut resumed it with provincial funds and estimates investment above 23.656 billion pesos, transferring completion costs to its own budget.
The first allocation prioritises police personnel, while the provincial plan also considers health workers and teachers. Transparent eligibility and allocation rules must now turn that policy into identifiable beneficiaries.
The tour included Mayor Gerardo Merino, Minister Hernán Tórtola, police chief Andrés García and housing authority head Alejandro Asensio. Their participation reflects the need to coordinate construction, utilities, documents and handover.
October 30 will test the schedule. Two further groups of 68 homes will remain, and the next step is publication of the final beneficiary list and physical progress on the other units.
