Governor Maximiliano Pullaro signed the decree formalising the promotion of 2,764 members of the Santa Fe Police. The promotions correspond to the 2025 exercise and result from the competition organised by the Ministry of Justice and Security. The measure closes that call while the provincial ministry prepares to open the procedure for 2026 promotions during August.

The instrument recognises the new ranks from January 1, 2025, but sets a different date for their financial effects. Article 6 and the explanatory grounds establish recognition of salary differences from October 1 of that year. The separation relies on case law from Administrative Litigation Chamber No. 1 concerning the time limits applicable to retroactive payments.

The decree includes a 138-page annex that does more than list those promoted. It also identifies personnel whose cases remain suspended because of administrative proceedings, those who were absent, candidates who passed but were not promoted for lack of vacancies and those who failed the examination. The file also contains the ranking prepared by the jury and an updated list of impediments.

The competition opened on February 20 under the promotion and selection rules of Law 12,521 and attracted 6,103 candidates. The promotion list is headed by Alejandro Oscar Tognolo, who moves from police director to director general. Luciano Héctor Huasman and Aldo Elías Perea, previously deputy directors, were promoted to police directors.

The ministry led by Pablo Cococcioni placed the signature within its goal of bringing delayed promotion competitions up to date. In July 2024, it completed the procedure for 2023, with 3,107 new classifications. In January 2025, the decree for the 2024 competition covered 2,867 officers; the newly approved document completes the 2025 exercise with 2,764 promotions.

Technical Coordination and Financial Administration Secretary Georgina Orciani said the 2026 competition will be called in August. That opening will be the next checkpoint for the government's promise to finish its term with the system current. In the meantime, the signed decree must be applied on two levels: recognising ranks from January 2025 and settling salary differences from October under the judicial criterion included in the file.
