Governor Claudio Poggi announced on 1 of August 2025 that the Ahora San Luis front would not present lists in the national elections of that October. He explained that he did not consider it appropriate to intervene in a competition defined around support or opposition to Javier Milei and maintained that such a discussion did not correspond to the provincial nature of his space.
The decision left the Puntano government out of the dispute for three seats in the Chamber of Deputies. The only national deputy who answered to Poggi was finishing her term at the end of 2025, so the governor would be left without his own representatives in the Congress. The provincial representation would be shared between Peronist and libertarian candidates.
The published interpretation linked Ahora San Luis's withdrawal to an understanding with Javier Milei and Karina Milei, although Poggi did not admit to that agreement. The cited precedent was the provincial election of May 2025, when the national libertarian leadership withdrew its support from two local lists and went to the courts to prevent them from using the La Libertad Avanza brand and colors.
Those two libertarian lists gathered a little more than 15 points in total. Only the one led by national deputy Carlos D'Alessandro managed to incorporate two provincial legislators. After those elections, D'Alessandro was at the head of La Libertad Avanza in San Luis. The sequence fueled the interpretation of a political negotiation between the provincial government and the Casa Rosada.
The official explanation from Ahora San Luis was to avoid getting caught between the Peronism and the libertarians, with the risk of ending up in third place. However, journalistic analysis observed that a competition divided in thirds could offer a seat with around 20 points or even less, depending on the distance obtained by the winning force.
The withdrawal was an effective electoral decision, but the existence and content of the supposed pact were not recognized by Poggi. The note corresponds to the 2025 process and does not describe the 2026 calendar. Its political scope was to remove the provincial ruling party from the national election, reduce local competition, and leave San Luis representation in the hands of other forces.
