The early arrival of heat forced the release of winter stock, but seasonal discounts also seek to generate cash in the face of shrinking consumption. Native, Radio Armador, and Monroe closed permanently, while other bazaars and electronics stores left the Florida pedestrian street.

The shops in the center of Salta advanced the clearance of the winter season with promotions of 2x1 and discounts of up to 60%. The early rise in temperatures in August, the renewal of the shop windows, and the proximity of the Milagro celebrations accelerated the need to clear racks for the spring-summer collection. However, the intensity of the sales also responds to the urgency of obtaining cash after several months of restrained consumption.

In a store on Caseros street, before Florida, the selected garments have a direct discount of 60% at checkout. There, long pullovers are offered from 8.000 pesos and T-shirts from 4.000 pesos, in addition to coats and sweaters with end-of-season prices. The opportunity for buyers is built on an increasingly narrow margin for businesses that need to turn accumulated merchandise into immediate liquidity.

Footwear replicates the same strategy. After the definitive closure of Native, Ana Express reinforced its position in the low-cost segment with boots from 35.000 pesos and sneakers or sandals from 10.000 pesos. To these offers are added the promotions of Pucci in the downtown area. The price competition aims to maintain a flow of sales that can no longer depend solely on seasonal replacement.

The identified closures show that the difficulty exceeds clothing. Radio Armador and Monroe lowered their shutters permanently after failing to overcome the contraction in demand. On the pedestrian street Florida, two bazaars and two electronics stores located close to each other also stopped operating. The sectoral dispersion prevents attributing the phenomenon to a single type of product or to a single corridor.

The clearance thus fulfills two simultaneous functions. It allows winter garments to be withdrawn to make way for the next collection, but it also offers a quick way to finance expenses and reduce inventories in businesses subject to lower sales. That is why a discount sign does not necessarily express an expansion of consumption: it can be the tool for the continuity of a business or the stage prior to an exit that has not yet been announced.

The result will be known when the sales campaign ends and the new season begins. If the stock turns into cash, the stores will be able to renew merchandise and get through the next few months; if demand remains depressed, the center may add new shutters to the already confirmed ones. August opens a commercial opportunity due to the weather and the Milagro, but promotions of up to 60% reveal how much that opportunity depends on buyers actually returning to the streets.
