Axel Kicillof opened a Frente Nacional Justicialista plenary in the province of Buenos Aires that brought together mayors and leaders from different parts of the country. The activity, presented as part of the federalization of his political space, added voices that project him towards the presidential competition of 2027, although the governor did not launch a formal candidacy there.
The seminar was titled “Peronismo X Peronistas: proposals for a national transformation” and was organized by the sector led by the former mayor of Florencio Varela Julio Pereyra. Among others, Enry Martínez from Reconquista; Dante Velázquez from La Quiaca; the Neuquén resident Darío Martínez; Martín Barrionuevo from Corrientes; and the Salta lieutenant governor Alberto “Gringo” Marocco participated.
Marocco stated that Peronism must first organize its structure, then define alliances, and only then choose a candidate. His proposal placed the electoral discussion within a political sequence that is still open. He also pointed out the need to build a federal proposal with representation from the provinces, one of the key points with which Kicillofism is trying to expand its presence outside of Buenos Aires.
The mayor of Florencio Varela, Andrés Watson, demanded that the selection of candidates not depend on individual decisions, an idea he summarized with the expression 'The finger is no longer,' and defended the PASO as a mechanism to resolve the competition. The position incorporates a relevant internal discussion: while different figures publicly support Kicillof, the assistants did not agree on a name or a definitive procedure for the national ticket.
The activity was integrated into an agenda that had already taken the governor or his allies to Corrientes, Tierra del Fuego, Chaco and Córdoba. Héctor Daer had supported his projection during a visit to Chaco, and the organization is considering new activities, including a possible stop in Neuquén. In the plenary, there were no leaders identified with the Kirchnerist core, an absence that also showed the current limits of the call.
The meeting confirmed that Kicillof is working to establish a national network of support and to develop a platform with territorial leaders. However, it did not resolve the reorganization of Justicialist Party, the alliances of 2027, nor the presidential candidacy. For now, it is a stage of political accumulation: its electoral translation will depend on internal agreements, selection rules, and commitments that still need to be built.
