Provincial deputy Sebastián Benítez Molas outlined two work streams for Chaco's Justicialist Party: a reform allowing provincial and national elections to be held together, and an internal process designed to agree a programme before selecting candidates. As the provincial PJ's political secretary, he said both issues should be settled well ahead of the 2027 calendar and under rules accepted by the parties forming the opposition front.

The institutional initiative would amend Article 90(7) of Chaco's Constitution, which currently prevents local and national voting on the same date. The Provincial PJ Council promoted the text and the Justicialist caucus introduced it in the Chamber of Deputies. Its stated purpose is to give the executive the option of simultaneous elections, not to require every election to be combined.

Benítez Molas said the procedure depends on legislative support. Unanimous approval could enact the amendment directly; a two-thirds majority would require a popular consultation. The bill has entered the legislature and must still be considered in committee before any floor vote. Electoral unification is therefore not decided and no date has been set through this mechanism.

He justified the proposal as a way to lower costs and prevent voters from going to the polls several times in one year. He connected it to the government's earlier decision to abolish provincial primaries on savings grounds. His argument also contains political criticism of Governor Leandro Zdero, but the fiscal impact of simultaneous voting will have to be assessed with comparable estimates and under the constitutional procedure.

Within the party, Benítez Molas favours an internal election open to registered members of all organisations in the front, with the PJ as its central force. He suggested March or April 2027 to leave enough campaign time. Even so, he said he would prefer a unity slate before that stage and wants to avoid a contest among numerous tickets that could fragment the coalition.

His stated priority is to agree a governing programme first. He referred to a ten-point agenda on which the sectors should share at least six positions in order to build joint action. Meetings are taking place in person and online, and candidacies should follow that discussion. The aim is to move attention from names to concrete objectives in education, health, cities and provincial development.

Benítez Molas said Peronism has reviewed its record since losing office in 2023 and that opposition to the national and provincial governments is not enough to form an alternative. He also called for a more federal construction and mentioned Sergio Massa, Jorge Capitanich and Gerardo Zamora as figures who could contribute. Those are his views within a negotiation that has not chosen a leader or ticket.

The two processes now have separate next steps. Electoral reform must pass committee review, secure the required majority and, if applicable, go to a popular vote. Party talks will continue over the programme, alliances, selection method and timetable. Until then, both simultaneous elections and the 2027 candidacies remain proposals under discussion rather than settled decisions.
