Delegations from Salta and Jujuy traveled to Córdoba for the 39th Plurinational Gathering of Women, Lesbians, Trans, Travesti, Bisexual, Intersex and Non-Binary people, held over three days. The groups are bringing demands related to living conditions, rights and representation.
The agenda includes reproductive health, lack of stable employment, debt, violence and defense of territories. Organizations are also demanding recognition of Indigenous women and lesbians and greater political participation.
The Plenario de Trabajadoras reported a delegation of 25 people from Salta and 36 from Jujuy. It includes Polo Obrero activists, unaffiliated participants and retirees interested in debates on older women, youth, diversity and comprehensive sex education.
The collective Lxs Fierxs de Abya Yala is also taking part. It works on the visibility and memory of anti-racist and anti-patriarchal lesbian identities, with a focus on territorial defense and the effective inclusion of Indigenous and lesbian voices.
For the organizations, the gathering is a national coordination space linking local experiences. Exchanging strategies, building networks and sharing diagnoses are seen as tools to sustain demands that often remain fragmented within each province.
The debate also includes criticism of national policies. Members of the Plenario de Trabajadoras said they will challenge spending cuts, defunding of programs and job insecurity, while also discussing the responsibility of opposition forces that supported government reforms.
Delegates plan to join workshops on trafficking, older women, comprehensive sex education and the political situation. Their stated aim is to prevent internal differences from blocking agreements and to give territorial demands a shared expression.
The gathering continues in Córdoba through October 12. For the Salta and Jujuy groups, the practical test will be whether they return with stronger networks, political agreements and an agenda that can be sustained in their provinces after the event.
