Argentina Mining Norte 2026 was officially presented at Casa de la Provincia de Salta, in Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. The launch opened the countdown to the convention that will be held from 2 to 4 September at Centro de Convenciones de Salta. The edition will coincide with the 30 years of Argentina Mining and is expected to bring together more than 300 mining and supplier companies.
The presentation brought together national and provincial authorities, legislators, companies, suppliers, business chambers, universities, and specialized media. The announced program includes technical content, commercial exhibition, business rounds, and networking spaces. This format seeks to initiate conversations and connect industry actors, but the expectation of business does not by itself equate to contracts or investments already closed.
Javier Rojas, director of Argentina Mining, stated that the sectoral debate is beginning to shift from geological potential towards concrete projects and investments. He also recalled that the organization was founded in 1996 by Nivaldo Rojas. The anniversary will include the first Copa Nivaldo Rojas, an open golf tournament organized as a tribute to the founder during the September activities.
National Senator Flavia Royón highlighted that mining has gained space on the economic agenda and warned that this visibility requires demonstrating sustainability and long-term benefits. Fernanda Ávila, National Deputy for Catamarca and President of the Mining Commission, stated that the discussion has matured and emphasized the coordination between provinces, public agencies, and companies to improve investment conditions.
Salta presented its own portfolio through the provincial Secretary of Mining, Gustavo Carrizo. The official reported that there are seven projects in production and 134 in exploration, of which 34 are progressing with investments aimed at reaching productive phases in the coming years. These are projects in different stages: the figure does not mean that the 134 are about to produce nor that the 34 have their start-up guaranteed.
The convention will seek to discuss how to transform exploration and capital into production, exports, suppliers, employment, and regional infrastructure. The next milestone will be the actual holding of the meeting and the connections generated there. Until then, the confirmed fact is the launch in CABA and the call for September; its economic results will depend on subsequent agreements that still cannot be considered concluded.
