National deputy Jorge Omar Fernández responded to San Luis Minister of Sustainable Productive Development Federico Tromboto and proposed joint action to defend regional biodiesel SMEs and demand the province's return to the Cold Zone benefit scheme.
Fernández expressed concern about legislative proposals to amend Biofuels Law 27,640 and argued that any change must take into account its impact on factories and employment in San Luis.
At the same time, he criticised Governor Claudio Poggi for having downplayed in 2025 the importance of electing national deputies capable of defending provincial interests. He also recalled the provincial government's support for the La Libertad Avanza list headed by Mónica Becerra.
The lawmaker linked that political decision to the course taken by the national government. He listed the closure of shops and factories, the suspension of public works, job losses, pension cuts and reduced funding for universities and scientific and technological institutions.
Fernández also criticised San Luis's exclusion from the Cold Zone scheme and said the provincial government had not reacted strongly enough to that decision.
Despite his criticism, he pledged his vote and participation in defence of provincial companies and jobs. He proposed that Tromboto convene the governor, all national legislators representing San Luis and those candidates previously backed by the provincial ruling party.
The aim of the joint initiative would be to ask President Javier Milei to reject changes harmful to the biofuels sector and restore San Luis to the low-temperature benefit scheme.
